BIMI

Control your brand logo and how it appears in our email applications while leveraging your investment into DMARC.

BIMI

BIMI, which is short for Brand Indicators for Message Identification, is a simple way to display your brand. BIMI allows our users to see logos associated with specific brands sending authenticated email.

BIMI enables senders to control the logos which are being displayed, cultivate immediate brand recognition and enhance the overall user experience.

We like BIMI as it requires DMARC which helps to create a better email ecosystem.

Yahoo is currently showing BIMI logos in the message list and read view experiences in our mobile mail applications for Yahoo and AOL users. We will also show BIMI logos in the read message views of our desktop webmail experiences. In addition we leverage BIMI for brand logos in our deals and shopping experiences through Yahoo and AOL Mail. See our Promotions & Schema page for more information.

We will display a logo if

  • A BIMI record exists which points to a valid logo in SVG format
  • A DMARC policy of quarantine or reject is in place
  • The mailing is sent to a large number of recipients (bulk mail; we don’t display brand logos for personal emails)
  • We see sufficient reputation and engagement for the sending email address

We honor BIMI records on sub domains, but prefer BIMI and DMARC to be set up at the organizational domain level.

We currently do not require VMCs to be set up for BIMI logos to appear in Yahoo applications. However if a BIMI record includes a VMC, we will use it to inform the overall BIMI eligibility.
