App Install Ads

Native image and video ads reach over 650M mobile users across a massive mobile network of over 1,000 apps, including Verizon Media properties, and top syndication partner apps.

App users acquired with video ads have up to 43% more sessions compared to an average user.

Ads for apps are effective at prompting re-engagement. Even if users saw the ads but did not click through, they were 11% more likely to reuse the app.

Note

CPCV app install ads are no longer supported. CPC is the only price type available for app install ads. You can still create and serve static and video ad formats, however.

How-To

Follow these steps to create app install ads:

  1. Create a Campaign with the objective set to INSTALL_APP, depending on your campaign’s goal (other objectives will not work).

  2. Create an ad group with a CPC bid type.

  3. When creating your ad, you will need to include an imageUrl and imageUrlHQ. Note that the imageLargeUrl must have a 1:1 aspect ratio. A square image (imageLargeUrl) is mandatory. If an advertiser uploads an 800x1000 image, the asset will be cropped to 800x800 pixels with the file formats of GIF, JPG or PNG and a maximum file size of 2MB. Also ensure a1:1 aspect ratio and exact size of 627x627 for a square asset for single image ads.

  4. Provide the field landingUrl with the URL to the app store. A list of supported app install store locales is shown below.

  5. Set all levels to Active. If the ad passes approval, it will be eligible to serve within 24-48 hours.

App Install Video Ads

The Video App Install format is a combination of a card plus a 30-second video spot.

On load, a full-screen, 30-second video ad will display followed by a full-screen endcard. The end-card will include a call-to-action instructing the user to download the app in the app store and a close button which will allow the user to immediately return to the app they were using.

How-To

Follow these steps to create app install video ads:

  1. Create a Campaign with the objective set to INSTALL_APP, depending on your campaign’s goal (note that other objectives will not work).

  2. Create an ad group with a CPC bid type.

  3. Create an video ad ensuring to include your videoPrimaryURL. Note that videos are required to meet the below specifications:

  • Formats: .mp4 .m4v or .mov

  • File Size: 1GB maximum

  • Duration: 5 seconds minimum, 30 seconds maximum for App Install campaigns, 5 minutes maximum for Promote Brand campaigns.

  • Aspect Ratio: Minimum 480x360p (4:3) or 480x270 (16:9). Recommended 640x480 (4:3) or 640x360 (16:9)

  • Video Bitrate: 300kbps. Recommended 500kbps.

  • Audio Quality: If the video has audio, then it must have 2 channel stereo and minimum 32kbps. Recommended 64kbps.

  1. When creating your ad, you will also need to include an imageUrl and imageUrlHQ. Note that your images must meet the requirements of 1200X627 and 627X627 with the file formats of GIF, JPG or PNG and a maximum file size of 2MB.
